Kawneer KW035136-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What lock does the Kawneer KW035136-29 radius faceplate fit?
It's the radius faceplate for the Kawneer MS Standard Lock. Kawneer builds it as a genuine service replacement part matched to that lock's original specifications, so it goes on without modification. If the lock in your door is not a Kawneer MS Standard Lock, this is not the faceplate for it.
2) Is the KW035136-29 the flat faceplate or the curved one?
Curved. The KW035136-29 has a contoured radius profile, which is the version used where the lock face follows a radiused edge rather than sitting flat. Ordering a radius plate for a flat prep, or the reverse, leaves you with a plate that won't sit down on the stile.
3) Does the KW035136-29 include the MS lock itself or any hardware?
No. The KW035136-29 is the faceplate only, sold as a replacement part. The MS Standard Lock body, cylinder, and any fasteners are separate items. Property managers replacing a scarred or mismatched plate on an otherwise working lock are the usual buyers here.
4) Is this a commercial-duty part or something for residential doors?
Commercial. Kawneer catalogs the KW035136-29 as commercial door hardware, and it sees use in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, industrial and warehouse buildings, multi-tenant residential properties, and government buildings.
5) Can I use a generic aftermarket faceplate instead of the Kawneer part?
On an MS Standard Lock, stay with the Kawneer part. The KW035136-29 is made to the original specifications of that lock, so the cutout and radius line up with the existing prep. A generic plate means field-modifying the stile, and on an aluminum storefront that is not a repair you want to make twice.
