Kawneer KW037093-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW037093-17 and where does it go on the door?
It's a bottom door weathering sweep, 48 inches long, that mounts at the base of a Kawneer door to seal against drafts, dust, moisture and noise. It is a genuine Kawneer service replacement part, model KW037093-17, meant to restore weatherization on an existing door rather than replace the door hardware.
2) Does this Kawneer sweep work on doors with an exit device?
Yes. The KW037093-17 is catalogued as an exit device part and is intended for Kawneer exit device door assemblies, so it works on doors fitted with panic hardware. The sweep seals at the bottom rail and doesn't interact with the device or its rods.
3) Is this an aftermarket weatherstrip or the actual Kawneer part?
It's a genuine Kawneer service replacement component, not a universal aftermarket sweep. That matters on Kawneer aluminum entrances, where the sweep has to seat in the manufacturer's bottom rail profile rather than screw on as a flat retainer.
4) Can I replace just the door sweep, or do I need new door hardware?
Just the sweep. The KW037093-17 is supplied as a direct service replacement so you restore the original weatherization without pulling the door or replacing the hardware set, which is why facilities crews keep them on the shelf.
5) Is the KW037093-17 sweep rated for high traffic commercial use?
It's a commercial product, built to commercial door hardware durability standards, and the listed applications include office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial and warehouse facilities, multi-tenant residential and government buildings. For a property manager replacing sweeps across a building, it's the same part on every Kawneer leaf of that type.
