Kawneer KW037288-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW037288-29 paddle pull fit a left-hand door?
No. The KW037288-29 is factory-configured right-handed, so the paddle orientation only works on a right-hand opening. Handing on a paddle device is not field-reversible the way a lever often is, so confirm the hand of the door before ordering and source the left-hand version if the opening is left-handed.
2) Can I replace just the paddle on a Kawneer latchlock exit device, or do I need the whole device?
Just the paddle. The KW037288-29 is a genuine Kawneer service replacement paddle pull that swaps out a worn or damaged paddle on a compatible latchlock exit device, so you restore operation without pulling and replacing the full assembly.
3) Is this Kawneer paddle an aftermarket part or the real thing?
It is an authentic Kawneer service part, made to original equipment specification for Kawneer latchlock exit device systems. That matters on aluminum storefront work, where an aftermarket paddle often will not line up with the existing device prep.
4) I need to standardize paddle pulls across several storefront doors in my building. Can I order this one part number for all of them?
Only for the right-hand, 1-3/4 inch doors. The KW037288-29 covers that combination. Left-hand openings in the same building need the opposite-hand paddle, so walk the doors and count hands before placing one bulk order.
5) Is the KW037288-29 paddle rated for commercial traffic, or is it a light-duty residential part?
Commercial. It is built for commercial door applications, the kind of use you see in office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and municipal buildings.
