Kawneer KW037288-40 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW037288-40 paddle pull work on a left-handed door?
No. The KW037288-40 is built as a right-handed paddle device pull, so the paddle orientation and operation only suit a right-hand opening. Put it on a left-handed door and the paddle throws the wrong way. Confirm the handing of the leaf before ordering and pick the left-hand version if that is what you have.
2) Is the KW037288-40 a complete exit device or just the paddle?
Just the paddle. The KW037288-40 is a paddle device pull, a service component that works with a Kawneer latchlock assembly already in the door. It does not include the latch, cylinder, or strike. If the latching mechanism itself has failed, you need the latchlock, not this pull.
3) Will the Dark Bronze paddle match the rest of my Kawneer entrance hardware?
The finish is factory-applied Dark Bronze, the same finish Kawneer runs on its architectural door hardware, so a paddle swap on one leaf reads consistently with the other openings in the building. Property managers replacing a single damaged pull across a run of storefront doors get a match rather than a patch.
4) Do I need an OEM Kawneer part or will a generic paddle pull do?
The KW037288-40 is a genuine Kawneer service part, cut to the OEM hole pattern and paddle geometry of the latchlock assembly it mounts to. Aftermarket paddles rarely land on the same prep, which means drilling a storefront stile you would rather not touch. For a like-for-like restoration on an existing Kawneer door, the OEM part is the clean swap.
5) Is this Kawneer paddle pull rated for high-traffic commercial entrances?
It is a commercial-grade component, catalogued for commercial rather than residential use, and Kawneer service parts are typical on office, school, healthcare, retail, government, and multi-tenant residential entrances. That is the traffic it is built around.
