Kawneer KW037295-40 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW037295-40 paddle push work on a left-hand door?
No. The KW037295-40 is factory-configured right-handed and cannot be flipped in the field, so a left-hand opening needs the left-hand version of the part instead. Confirm the hand of the door before ordering: stand outside the door, and if the hinges are on your right and it swings away from you, that is right hand.
2) Is the KW037295-40 a complete exit device or just a replacement piece?
Just a piece. The KW037295-40 is the paddle push element that mounts into an existing Kawneer latchlock exit device assembly. It does not include the latch, rods, strike, or trim, so if the whole device is worn out you are buying a full latchlock unit, not this part.
3) Will this paddle match the finish on the rest of my Kawneer storefront hardware?
It comes in dark bronze, which is one of the standard Kawneer architectural finishes used across aluminum door and storefront hardware. If the other doors in the building are clear anodized or black, this paddle will not match and you would want the matching finish version.
4) Is the KW037295-40 a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Kawneer. It is supplied as an OEM service part built to Kawneer's own specification, which matters on latchlock hardware because the paddle has to line up exactly with the existing latch mechanism and door prep. Aftermarket paddles often need drilling or shimming.
5) Is this paddle push rated for high-traffic commercial entrances?
It is a commercial-grade component, intended for entrance and egress doors in offices, retail storefronts, schools, healthcare and municipal buildings. It is not a residential part.
