Kawneer KW037652-40 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW037652-40 bumper bar fit a 48 inch exit device?
No. The KW037652-40 bumper bar package is sized for 36 inch Kawneer exit devices only. A wider device needs the bumper bar cut for that width, so measure the existing device before ordering this one.
2) What exactly comes in the KW037652-40 package?
It is a single aluminum bumper bar package, supplied as a complete assembly for replacing one worn or damaged bumper bar on a 36 inch Kawneer exit device. It is the bumper bar component only, not a complete exit device.
3) Is the Dark Bronze on this Kawneer bumper bar going to match the rest of my storefront hardware?
The bumper bar carries a factory-applied Dark Bronze finish matched to Kawneer exit device hardware, so on an opening where the existing Kawneer device is Dark Bronze it will read the same. Against a dark bronze anodized finish from another manufacturer, expect a possible shade difference.
4) Is the KW037652-40 an aftermarket part or genuine Kawneer?
Genuine Kawneer service part, model KW037652-40, built to original equipment specification. That matters on aluminum storefront work where the bar has to line up with the existing device mounting and finish.
5) Can a property manager swap this bumper bar out without replacing the whole exit device?
Yes, that is the point of the package. It is a replacement part for the bumper bar itself, so a damaged or scuffed bar on an otherwise working 36 inch Kawneer device can be changed out and the device stays in service.
6) Is this bumper bar rated for commercial traffic, or is it a residential part?
It is a commercial part. Kawneer specifies the aluminum bumper bar package for commercial door hardware, and it is used in office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial facilities, multi-tenant residential and government buildings.
7) What is the bumper bar made of and how does it hold up in a high traffic entrance?
Aluminum construction, the same material family as the Kawneer storefront doors these devices go on. Kawneer specifies it for demanding commercial door hardware use, which is why it shows up on school and retail entrances that see constant push traffic.
