Kawneer KW037652-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW037652-29 bumper bar package and what is it used for?
It is a single aluminum bumper bar package supplied as a Kawneer service part for exit devices. The bumper bar is the push bar component of the device assembly, and this package is sold as a replacement part to restore an existing Kawneer exit device rather than as a complete device. Finish is black.
2) Is this a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket copy?
It is an OEM Kawneer service component, supplied as an official Kawneer service part and built to Kawneer specifications for their exit device assemblies. That matters on aluminum storefront work, where the bar has to line up with existing end caps and mounting points on the device already in the door.
3) I manage a building with black storefront doors. Will this bumper bar match the rest of my hardware?
The bar comes in black, so it matches black exit device hardware and black anodized or painted aluminum storefront. If your other openings run a different finish, this part will not blend with them, since black is the only finish offered on it.
4) Is the bumper bar package complete, or do I need extra hardware to install it?
It ships as a complete single bumper bar package with the components needed to fit it into the target exit device assembly. What it does not include is the exit device itself, the end caps, or the latching mechanism, so this is a repair or refresh part for a device already hung in the door.
5) Is an aluminum bumper bar durable enough for a high traffic school or hospital entrance?
It is built as a commercial-grade part, aluminum construction, and Kawneer lists it for commercial use including educational facilities, healthcare institutions, retail, industrial buildings, government work, and multi-tenant residential. It is not a residential-duty item.
