Kawneer KW037653-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size exit device does the Kawneer KW037653-29 bumper bar fit?
The KW037653-29 bumper bar package is built for 42 inch Kawneer exit devices. It is sized to that device length, so it will not substitute for a bumper bar on a shorter or longer device. Match the device length on the door before ordering.
2) Is the KW037653-29 a complete bumper bar or just the hardware?
It ships as a complete single bumper bar package, meaning the bar and its package components come together for a straight swap on a 42 inch device. It is a service part only, not a full exit device, so the chassis, latch and trim on the door stay in place.
3) What finish and material is the Kawneer 42 inch bumper bar?
Aluminum construction with a factory black finish. For a property manager matching a run of storefront doors, the black bar suits openings already running dark anodized or painted black Kawneer hardware; if your other doors are aluminum or bronze tone, this one will read as a mismatch.
4) Is this a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket bumper bar?
Genuine Kawneer service part, carried under the Kawneer service parts program as model KW037653-29. That matters on Kawneer storefront and entrance systems, where the bumper bar has to line up with the existing device mounting points rather than being drilled to fit.
5) I have a pair of doors with damaged push bars. How many KW037653-29 packages do I need?
One package covers one bar. The KW037653-29 is a single bumper bar package, so a pair of doors each running a 42 inch device takes two.
6) Can I use the Kawneer KW037653-29 bumper bar on a residential door?
It is a commercial-rated part for commercial door hardware, intended for aluminum entrance openings in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential buildings and government facilities. On a house door there is typically no 42 inch Kawneer exit device for it to mount to.
