Kawneer KW037942 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Kawneer KW037942 pivot package, and what does it do on the door?
KW037942 is an adjustable top center pivot package from Kawneer, sold as a genuine service part for commercial door applications. It is the top pivot the door swings on at the head, and the adjustability is there so you can bring the door back into alignment after wear or a sagging leaf. It ships as a complete package with the components needed for a replacement install.
2) My Kawneer exit device door is dragging at the top corner. Is a top center pivot the right part to order?
That is the usual reason this part gets bought. The KW037942 is the adjustable top center pivot, so it gives you the adjustment to reset the door's position at the head and restore smooth swing. If the drag is coming from the bottom of the leaf or from the offset hinge arrangement instead, the top pivot will not correct it, so confirm which pivot point your door actually runs on before ordering.
3) Is the KW037942 pivot for residential storm doors or for commercial openings?
Commercial only. Kawneer lists the KW037942 pivot package as a commercial-grade part, built for the traffic seen in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial buildings, multi-tenant residential and government facilities. It is not a residential entry-door part.
4) Do I need to buy any other pieces to install the KW037942 pivot?
The pivot comes as a complete package with the components needed for the replacement install, so you are not chasing loose parts to make it up. What it does not include is anything belonging to the door's other hardware, so if the exit device or bottom pivot is also worn, those are separate orders.
5) Is the KW037942 a replacement part or something you would specify on a new door?
It is catalogued by Kawneer as a service and replacement part, aimed at maintaining an existing installation rather than being specified new. Facility maintenance and MRO buyers ordering it are typically restoring an exit device door that has fallen out of alignment.
