Kawneer KW047796-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What voltage does the Kawneer KW047796-17 AR 7130 electric strike part run on?
It runs on either 24VAC or 12VDC, so it will tie into most standard access control power supplies without adding a separate transformer. Confirm which output your existing panel or supply is set to before wiring it in.
2) Will the KW047796-17 work in any Kawneer frame, or only certain ones?
This one is built for the AR 7130 electric strike installed in a 4.5 center hung frame. It is an application-specific service part, not a universal strike, so a different Kawneer frame depth or a butt hung configuration takes a different part number.
3) Is the KW047796-17 a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket copy?
It is supplied as a genuine Kawneer service replacement component built to OEM specification for the AR 7130 strike. For storefront work that matters, because the strike pocket in a Kawneer aluminum frame is cut to the factory part and aftermarket substitutes often need the prep reworked.
4) Is this Kawneer electric strike part suitable for a residential door?
No. The KW047796-17 is rated and intended for commercial use only, in high traffic architectural entry systems like office lobbies, storefronts, schools and healthcare entrances. For a house door you want a residential-rated strike instead.
5) Do I have to replace the whole AR 7130 strike, or can I just swap this part?
It is sold as a direct replacement part for compatible AR 7130 installations, so on a service call you swap the component rather than rebuilding the opening. That keeps the existing frame prep and wiring in place and shortens the downtime on the door.
6) How do I make sure I order the right Kawneer strike part?
Order by model number KW047796-17 and verify two things on site: that the strike is an AR 7130, and that the frame is a 4.5 center hung. Those two details are what separate this part from the other AR 7130 service parts in the family.
7) What finish does the Kawneer AR 7130 replacement strike come in?
Clear Aluminum, which is the standard anodized look on Kawneer architectural aluminum framing. If the rest of your entrance is clear anodized, it drops in without a visible mismatch at the jamb.
