Kawneer KW133503-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW133499-17 and which exit device does it fit?
KW133499-17 is a genuine Kawneer service replacement part for the Falcon 1690 Concealed Panic Door system, supplied in a Clear Aluminum finish for left-hand openings. It is made for the Falcon 1690 concealed panic series only, as a direct replacement without modification, so it should not be used to service a surface-mounted rim or vertical rod device.
2) Does the handing matter on this Kawneer Falcon 1690 concealed panic part?
Handing matters. KW133499-17 is built for left-handed door applications so the operating alignment matches the assembly. If the door you are servicing is right handed, this part is the wrong one and you need the right-hand version of the same Kawneer service part. Confirm the hand of the leaf before you order.
3) What lengths does the Kawneer KW133499-17 come in?
Three lengths are offered: 30 inch, 42 inch, and 48 inch. Concealed panic components are cut to the device length in the leaf, so measure the existing part or the door width the original device was furnished for and match it. Ordering a 42 when the opening takes a 48 leaves you short and the device will not function.
4) Will the Clear Aluminum finish match the rest of my Falcon 1690 storefront doors?
Clear Aluminum is the stock finish here and it is the finish used on original Falcon 1690 door hardware, so on a building already fitted with clear anodized aluminum entrances the replacement blends with the adjacent openings. If your other leaves were furnished in a dark bronze or painted finish, the visible appearance will not match.
5) Is KW133499-17 an aftermarket part or genuine Kawneer?
Genuine Kawneer service part, made to original equipment specifications for the Falcon 1690 assembly. For a property manager standardizing on Kawneer entrances, that means the replacement keeps the existing device geometry rather than forcing a retrofit of the whole panic.
6) Do I need to modify the door or frame to install this Falcon 1690 replacement part?
No. Kawneer supplies KW133499-17 as a direct drop-in replacement for the Falcon 1690 concealed panic, engineered to the original assembly specs, so no cutting or new prep in the leaf is required as long as the hand and length are correct.
7) Is this Kawneer part suitable for a high-traffic commercial entrance?
It is a commercial-rated part, built to commercial standards for high-traffic use, and Kawneer lists it for office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouse, multi-tenant residential, and government facilities. It is not a residential item.
