Kawneer KW137807-40 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly comes with the Kawneer KW137807-40 replacement part?
KW137807-40 is a Kawneer service part consisting of an LCN 1260 door closer with a regular arm, finished in Dark Bronze. So it is the closer body plus the standard regular arm assembly, not an arm-only kit.
2) Will the KW137807-40 work as a direct replacement for an existing LCN 1260 closer?
Yes. The part is built for LCN 1260 series door closers as a direct replacement for existing commercial installations, which is why it is sold as a Kawneer service part rather than a generic closer.
3) Is the regular arm the right mounting configuration for my opening?
A regular arm mounts the closer on the pull side of the door with the arm projecting out from the face, which is the conventional commercial setup this part is built around. If your existing 1260 is set up top jamb or parallel arm, the regular arm assembly included here is not the configuration you are running.
4) What finish is the KW137807-40 and will it match my other Kawneer door hardware?
Dark Bronze. It is the standard architectural dark bronze used across coordinating Kawneer entrance hardware, so a closer replaced on one opening will read the same as the rest of a bronze storefront run.
5) Do I need to order a separate arm or mounting kit with the KW137807-40?
No separate arm order is needed. The regular arm assembly ships as part of the KW137807-40 package along with the LCN 1260 closer. Any existing shoe or soffit plate hardware on your frame should be inspected during the swap, since only the closer and regular arm are covered by this part number.
6) Is this closer part rated for commercial traffic or is it a residential-duty item?
Commercial. Kawneer lists the KW137807-40 as a commercial-use service part, intended for office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouse, multi-tenant residential, and municipal facilities.
7) Why buy the Kawneer-numbered part instead of a generic LCN 1260 closer?
The KW137807-40 is the Kawneer service part number, so it arrives in the Dark Bronze finish Kawneer specifies and in the arm configuration used on their entrances. Ordering by the Kawneer number removes the finish and arm guesswork a facility team would otherwise have to work out from a generic closer order.
