Kawneer KW911673-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW911673-17 pull package fit any sliding door, or only the Kawneer 990?
Only the Kawneer 990 Sliding Door. The KW911673-17 is a genuine Kawneer service part matched to the 990 Sliding Door system, so the pull profiles and the slide operator are cut for that door's prep. If your opening is a different Kawneer series or another manufacturer's slider, this package won't line up.
2) How many pulls come in the Kawneer KW911673-17 package?
Two: one interior pull and one exterior pull, supplied together with the slide operator. That covers both faces of a single 990 sliding leaf, so a pair of sliders would need two packages.
3) What does "extruded blank" mean on this Kawneer 990 pull package?
Blank means the pull bodies come with no cylinder or keyed lock cutout, and extruded means the profiles are pulled aluminum rather than cast. You get a pull-and-operate set for sliding actuation, not a locking device. If the opening needs key control, the blank pull is the wrong part.
4) What finish is the KW911673-17 Kawneer pull, and will it match our storefront?
Clear aluminum, which is the standard mill-look anodized appearance used across commercial glazing and storefront systems. On a building already trimmed in clear anodized aluminum it blends with the existing framing; if your 990 doors were specified in a dark or custom anodize, the clear finish will read lighter than the surround.
5) Can I order just the exterior pull, or is the KW911673-17 sold only as a set?
It ships as one complete package: interior pull, exterior pull and slide operator under the single part number KW911673-17. There is one orderable configuration, so a single-side replacement still means buying the full package. For a facility keeping spares for a bank of 990 sliders, that means one part number covers the whole assembly.
6) What does the slide operator in this package actually do on a 990 sliding door?
It is the actuating mechanism behind the pull that drives the sliding leaf, so replacing the pull package restores the operating function as well as the grip surface. If your complaint is a pull that moves but the door doesn't respond properly, this package replaces both halves of that problem rather than just the handle.
7) Is this Kawneer pull package rated for commercial traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial only. Kawneer lists the KW911673-17 as a commercial-grade replacement intended for high-use sliding installations, the kind found in retail entrances, lobbies, healthcare corridors and school entrances. It isn't a residential patio door part.
