Keedex K-BXE2000 Gate Box for Eplex 2000 Weldable Gate Box

It's a weldable steel enclosure that mounts an Alarm Lock Trilogy eplex 2000 cylindrical lock onto a gate or a frame that has no door prep. The gate box gives you a flat mounting surface and a housing for the lock body where a hollow-metal or wood door would normally provide one, so the lock can go on a chain link, ornamental, or tube-steel gate. It's a commercial part, not a residential one.

The K-BXE2000 is cut for the eplex 2000 specifically. The prep in the box is matched to that lock's cylindrical footprint, so it isn't a generic cylindrical box, and a different lock body or a different bore pattern won't line up. If you're mounting something other than an eplex 2000, you want the Keedex gate box built for that lock.

It's a weldable box, so plan on a welder. There's no bolt-through mounting pattern built into it and no mounting hardware in the box. On a chain link or tube-steel gate you weld the box to the frame member, dress the welds, then prime and finish it, since the steel ships unfinished. If you don't have a fabricator on the job, that changes who does the install, not just how long it takes.

Just the box. The K-BXE2000 is the enclosure only, ordered as a single model with no size, finish, or handing options to pick. The eplex 2000 lock itself is a separate line on the order, along with any strike or keeper you need on the receiving post.

It's 14 gauge steel, which is the standard weldable weight for gate boxes on commercial openings, and it's rated commercial rather than residential. 14 gauge takes a weld cleanly without burning through the way lighter sheet does, and it holds the lock rigid under the flex a swinging gate puts on it.

No handed versions to specify. The K-BXE2000 ships as one model, so there's nothing to call out on the order beyond the part number. Handing on the opening is settled by the eplex 2000 lock and by which side of the gate frame you weld the box to.

That's exactly the trade. Cutting a 2-1/8 inch cross bore and a latch bore into a gate's tube frame usually isn't possible, because the tube is too narrow and there's no backset to work with. The weldable box gives you the prep in a 5-1/2 by 10 inch steel housing you attach to the frame instead, so the eplex 2000 mounts on a gate that was never built to take a lock. If your opening is a real hollow-metal door with a standard cylindrical prep, you don't need a gate box at all.
