The K-BXES4 is built for Von Duprin 6211, 3140 F/A, and 712/712-75 electric strikes. It's the recessed housing the strike drops into, not the strike itself, so you still order the Von Duprin unit separately.
2) Should I get the steel or the aluminum Keedex K-BXES4 strike box?
Two materials: 14 gauge steel or .125 gauge aluminum. Steel is the standard pick for steel frames and welded gate posts where the box gets welded in. Aluminum makes sense on aluminum storefront and gate frames where you want the same metal to avoid dissimilar-metal corrosion outdoors, and where you'd rather fasten than weld.

5) Will a Keedex K-BXES4 work with a Von Duprin 6300 or other electric strike model?
The K-BXES4 is cut for the Von Duprin 6211, 3140 F/A, and 712/712-75 only. Keedex builds separate box models for other strike footprints, so if you're mounting a different Von Duprin or another brand's strike, match the box to that exact strike model rather than forcing this one.
6) How heavy is 14 gauge steel for a gate strike box, will it hold up to traffic?
14 gauge steel is a structural-weight box, not sheet trim, which is why this is spec'd as commercial. It takes the weld and the abuse of a gate post where the strike gets hit every cycle. The .125 aluminum version is a comparable wall thickness in aluminum.
