Keedex K-BXSAF-R22330 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Should I order the aluminum or the steel Keedex gate box?
Two materials are offered: .125 gauge aluminum and 14 gauge steel. Aluminum is the pick for coastal or wet exterior gates where corrosion is the concern; 14 gauge steel is the heavier choice for high traffic or higher abuse openings like parking structures and service gates. Both are cut to the same Saflok L Class cylindrical prep.
2) Will a Keedex gate box work with a mortise lock?
No. This one is prepped for a cylindrical lock with a 2-3/4 inch backset. A mortise lockset needs a mortise gate box with the pocket and case cutout for that body, so it won't drop into this shell.
3) Does the Keedex Saflok gate box come with the lock?
No lock is included. The gate box is the weldable housing that carries the Saflok L Class cylindrical lock on a gate; you order the lockset and any strike separately.
4) Is the Keedex K-BXSAF-R22330 gate box rated for commercial use?
It's a commercial grade item, built for hotel, multi-family and institutional gate openings where a Saflok L Class cylindrical lock is being carried out to a gate. The .125 gauge aluminum and 14 gauge steel options are both commercial weight material.
