Klein Tools 31932 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Klein Tools 31932 bi-metal hole saw come with an arbor?
No arbor is included. The hole saw is designed for use with the Klein Tools arbor, Cat. No. 31906, which is sold separately. Order it with the saw if you don't already have one on the shelf, otherwise there's nothing to mount it to.
2) What's the difference between Klein 31932 and 31948?
Bushing diameter. The 31932 has a 7/16-inch bushing and the 31948 has a 1/2-inch bushing. Match the bushing to the pilot/arbor setup you're running so the saw seats correctly.
3) How deep will a Klein 31932 hole saw cut?
Cutting depth is 2 inches (5 cm). That covers typical drywall, ceiling tile, plywood and sheet steel work, but it won't pass through stacked material or framing thicker than 2 inches in a single plunge.
4) Can this Klein bi-metal hole saw cut stainless steel, or do I need a carbide saw?
It's built for it. The bi-metal blade is optimized for cutting steel including stainless, and the same saw handles drywall, ceiling tile steel, wood and plastic. For an electrician drilling enclosures, strut, and panel knockouts alongside gypsum work, one saw covers the mix. Go to carbide only if you're into masonry or cast material, which this isn't rated for.
5) How do you get the slug out of a Klein 31932 hole saw without wrecking it?
The body has multiple slots along it that give you different leverage points for prying the slug free, so you can get a screwdriver in at whatever angle the plug sits. The hex-shaped base also lets you pull the saw off the arbor with a wrench instead of fighting it by hand.
6) Is this hole saw heavy-duty enough for daily use in a maintenance shop?
Construction is heavy-duty steel with a thick back plate specifically to take abuse, which is what fails first on cheap saws when you're leaning into sheet metal. One caution for electrical crews: never use it on or near live circuits, and wear approved eye protection.
