Klein Tools 40084 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can Klein Tools lineman work gloves be used for live electrical work?
No. The Klein lineman work gloves are explicitly not intended for energized electrical use. They are a leather jobsite work glove for hand protection during general lineman and utility tasks, not rubber insulating gloves. If you're working energized, you need rated rubber insulating gloves with leather protectors, not these.
2) What sizes do Klein lineman work gloves come in and what are the part numbers?
Three sizes: Medium is part number 40080, Large is 40082, and Extra Large is 40084. There is no small size in the line, so for crews with smaller hands the Medium is the floor.
3) Do these Klein gloves have knuckle protection for pulling wire and handling hardware?
They do. The lineman glove uses double-row padded knuckles, plus reinforced leather on the palm, fingertips and thumb. That's the wear pattern you get from rope, conductor and strut, so the reinforcement sits where it gets abraded first.
4) How long is the cuff on the Klein lineman glove, and does it slip on easily over a sleeve?
The cuff is 4 inches (10.2 cm) of leather and neoprene with side vents, and the glove is an easy pull-on style with no strap or closure to fuss with. The vents help with heat buildup on long days; the neoprene lets it stretch over a sleeve cuff without binding.
5) What are Klein lineman work gloves made of?
Leather is the primary material: soft grain leather shell with a reinforced leather palm and finger patches. The back of the hand is black spandex for flex, carrying the Klein Lineman logo patch, and the cuff combines leather with neoprene.
6) Are these gloves a good fit for a general contractor or facilities crew, or are they only for linemen?
Nothing about the construction limits them to utility line work. Reinforced leather palm and fingertips, padded knuckles and a spandex back make them a general-duty jobsite glove, and they suit maintenance, framing, material handling and mechanical work equally well. The only hard restriction is electrical: they are not for energized work.
