Klein Tools 60188 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are the Klein Tools 60188 leather work gloves rated for electrical work or arc flash?
No. The Klein 60188 goatskin work gloves are general-purpose hand protection, not electrical protective equipment. They are not insulated, not heat resistant, and not flameproof or fire retardant, so keep them away from open flame and sparks. For live electrical work you need rubber insulating gloves with a voltage class, used with leather protectors.
2) What size are the Klein 60188 work gloves, and are they men's or women's?
They are a Large, sold as a pair, and cut unisex. Overall glove length is 9 inches with a 5 inch width, and the hook and loop cuff strap lets you snug the wrist down if the fit is loose over a jacket sleeve.
3) Will leather gloves this thick still let me handle small fasteners and wire?
The leather is 0.09 inch thick, with a mesh back and ergonomic shape for dexterity. That is a working compromise: fine enough to hold screws and pull wire, but it is still a padded leather glove with EVA foam in the palm, so it is not a thin dipped-knit glove for terminating small devices.
4) Do the Klein 60188 gloves have knuckle protection for demo and conduit work?
Yes. PVC guards cover the knuckles and fingers, and the thumb is reinforced with extra leather where a glove normally wears through first. Useful when you are pulling through studs, fishing wire, or working in a panel with sharp edges.
5) Are these gloves safe for someone with a latex allergy?
Yes. The Klein 60188 leather work gloves contain no latex and are powder free, so they clear the usual latex-sensitivity issue when stocking gloves for a mixed crew or a facility PPE cabinet.
6) Can these goatskin gloves be washed?
Yes, the 60188 gloves are machine washable, which matters if you are issuing gloves across a crew and reusing them. They are not water resistant though, so they are not the choice for wet trenching or outdoor work in rain.
7) Are the Klein 60188 gloves lined for cold weather?
No lining and no insulation, so treat these as three-season gloves. The mesh back is there for breathability in warm work, not warmth. For winter exterior work you want an insulated glove instead.
8) What is the Klein part number and color on these leather gloves?
Klein Tools 60188, supplied as one pair in natural tan with black trim. Each pair weighs about 5 oz.
