Klein Tools 32777 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which Klein screwdriver does the 32777 spanner replacement bit fit?
The Klein spanner replacement bits are made for the 15-in-1 Ratcheting Screwdriver, Cat. No. 32305. They drop into that driver's bit holder as replacement blades. If you are running a different Klein multi-bit driver, confirm it takes 32305 blades before ordering.
2) What spanner sizes do the Klein replacement bits come in?
Two bits per blade, and two blade options. Model 32777 carries spanner 6 and 8; model 32778 carries spanner 10 and 12. Each is a double-ended blade, so one piece covers two sizes. Pick by the spanner (snake-eye) fastener sizes you actually service, or take both to cover 6 through 12.
3) Will a Klein spanner bit protect me if I hit a live circuit?
No. These spanner blades are not insulated and will not protect against electrical shock, even though they are an electrical-department tool. For live work you need a properly insulated (1000V rated) driver, not a bare replacement bit. Klein also warns against using the blades to pry or chisel, and to wear approved eye protection.
4) What is a spanner bit used for on security fasteners?
A spanner bit (also called snake-eye or pig-nose) drives two-hole security screws, the kind used on restroom partitions, elevator panels, transit fixtures, and public-area equipment to keep the general public out. The tip has two pins that seat in the two holes of the fastener head. Klein's version is precision machined and custom heat treated for long life, in spanner 6 and 8 or 10 and 12.
5) I need to cover spanner 6 through 12 for a facility, do I order one part or two?
Two. Each Klein spanner blade is double-ended and covers only two sizes: order 32777 for spanner 6 and 8, and 32778 for spanner 10 and 12. For MRO kits standardizing on the 15-in-1 driver (Cat. No. 32305), stocking both blades covers the full 6 to 12 range on one handle.
