1) Is the Kwikset 784 deadbolt keyed on both sides, and can I use it on a door I need to exit in a hurry?
Both sides take a key. The 784 is a double cylinder deadbolt, so there is no thumbturn on the inside, and anyone inside needs a key to throw or retract the bolt. That is what you want next to a glass panel or sidelite where a thumbturn could be reached through broken glass.
