LCN 1450-3077/62A 689 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the 62PA parallel arm shoe actually do on an LCN 1450 closer?
The 62PA shoe is what lets the standard regular arm be mounted parallel to the door face instead of perpendicular off the frame. You use it when the frame face or a deep reveal makes regular-arm mounting impractical, or when you want the closer body and arm tucked back on the push side rather than projecting into the opening. The 1450 ships here as the arm plus shoe combination so one part number covers both mounting approaches.
2) Do I need to order the parallel arm shoe separately with an LCN 1450 regular arm closer?
No. This 1450 configuration is supplied as the regular arm assembly together with the 62PA parallel arm shoe, so both mounting options are covered by the one order. You still specify the finish, since the closer is sold by finish code.
3) What finishes does the LCN 1450 door closer with 62PA shoe come in?
Six finishes: 689 aluminum, 690 statuary bronze, 691 light bronze, 693 gloss black, 695 dark bronze, and 696 brass. If you are standardizing a building, 689 aluminum and 695 dark bronze are the two that most commonly match existing commercial closers already hung on aluminum storefront and bronze-toned openings.
4) Is the LCN 1450 closer suitable for a high traffic entry in a school or hospital?
Yes, that is the intended use. The 1450 is a commercial grade closer built for high traffic openings, and LCN lists it for office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial and warehouse buildings, multi-tenant residential, and government facilities. For interior cross-corridor and stairwell doors in those buildings it is the workhorse choice.
5) Can I mix finishes across a building and still get the same LCN 1450 closer?
Yes. The mechanism is the same 1450 regular arm with 62PA shoe across all six finish codes, so you can run 689 aluminum on the storefront and 695 dark bronze on interior wood doors without changing the closer model or the installation. Only the finish code changes on the order.
6) Where can I get the full mounting and template information for the LCN 1450?
LCN publishes the mounting details and general product information for the 1450 in its full line catalog, which ZenSupply hosts alongside the closer. Pull that before you drill, since regular arm and parallel arm mounting use different templates even though both are covered by this arm and shoe package.
