LCN 4030-30 652 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the LCN 4030-30 cush shoe support actually for?
The 4030-30 is the shoe support that gives the fifth screw on an LCN CUSH arm something solid to anchor into. On CUSH arm installations where the reveal is under 3-1/16 inches (78 mm), the arm shoe lands too close to the stop to pick up a proper fifth fastener, and the 4030-30 provides that anchorage. It's a mounting accessory for 4030 Series closers, not the closer or the arm itself.
2) My frame reveal is tight and the closer arm shoe won't hold screws, what do I order with an LCN 4030?
That's the exact condition the 4030-30 cush shoe support handles. Under a 3-1/16 inch (78 mm) reveal, the CUSH arm shoe doesn't get a solid landing for its fifth screw, and the support gives that screw real anchorage instead of leaving the shoe short-fastened. Order it in the same finish as the closer and arm so the opening matches.
3) Will the 4030-30 shoe support work with other LCN closer series, or only the 4030?
It's a 4030 Series part. LCN lists the 4030-30 as the cush shoe support for 4030 Series door closers with CUSH arms, so order it against a 4030 install. If you're working on a different LCN series, get the shoe support that series calls out rather than substituting this one.
4) Does the LCN 4030-30 cush shoe support come in a finish that matches my closer?
Thirteen finishes are offered, so you can match the shoe support to the closer and arm on the opening: 616 satin bronze blackened, 632 bright brass, 633 satin brass, 639 satin bronze, 646 satin nickel, 651 bright chrome, 652 satin chrome, 689 aluminum, 690 statuary bronze, 691 light bronze, 693 gloss black, 695 dark bronze, and 696 brass. For a property manager standardizing a building, 689 aluminum and 695 dark bronze are the two that turn up on most commercial closers.
5) Is the 4030-30 a replacement closer arm or a stop, or something else?
Neither. The CUSH arm is the arm with the built-in stop in the shoe; the 4030-30 is only the support bracket that backs up the fifth screw holding that shoe to the frame. If your arm itself is bent or the dead stop is failing, you need a CUSH arm for the 4030, not this support. Order the 4030-30 when the arm is fine and the mounting condition is the problem.
6) Can I use the LCN 4030-30 on an ADA accessible opening in a school or hospital?
Yes. The 4030-30 cush shoe support is ADA compliant and specified for commercial use, which covers accessible openings in educational, healthcare, government, retail and multi-tenant buildings. It's a mounting component, so the door's opening force still comes down to how the 4030 closer itself is sized and adjusted on that opening.
