The 5034 Pacer is built for concealed mounting in the frame head, and it needs a minimum 1-3/4 inch clearance in the aluminum transom with a 4 inch tube. If your transom is shallower than 1-3/4 inches, this closer will not go in and you need a different mounting approach, such as a surface closer.
