The 5036 Pacer is built for narrow aluminum transoms, needing a minimum 1-3/4 inch clearance and a 4 inch tube. Measure the transom tube before ordering: if your header is shallower than 1-3/4 inches or the tube is less than 4 inches, the closer body won't go in and you need a different mounting approach. It mounts concealed in the frame, not on the door face.
2) Is the LCN 5036 closer ADA compliant for opening force?
No. The 5036 Pacer is not ADA compliant. It's a heavy duty commercial closer with spring size 6, which produces more opening force than an accessible opening allows. On a barrier-free door governed by ADA opening force limits, this is the wrong closer, and you should be specifying a lower spring size or a power operator instead.
3) Do I have to specify handing when ordering the LCN 5036 Pacer?
Handing is required. The 5036 is ordered left hand or right hand, and it is not field-reversible on the order form, so you pick one. Stand outside the door on the pull side: if the hinges are on your left it's left hand, hinges on the right is right hand. Left hand is the default if nothing is selected.
