LCN SEM7810-514 - SEM Series Ball Pivot Connection Link, Aluminum Painted

It's the link that connects an LCN SEM series electromagnetic door holder to the door, giving the armature a ball pivot so the magnet and strike can seat squarely when the door swings to the hold-open position. It is an installation accessory, not a holder or a closer on its own, so it is ordered alongside a SEM series magnet rather than in place of one. SEM magnets hold the door open and release when current is interrupted; a separate manual door closer still does the closing.

Yes. The SEM series holding magnets it mounts to are UL listed for smoke barrier or labeled fire doors, and the series is tested and certified under ANSI A156.15. Because the holder drops the door on loss of current, the link is part of a fail safe hold-open assembly, which is what a fire alarm interface on a smoke barrier opening needs.

One finish only: aluminum painted, ordered as SEM7810-514 689. That is the standard LCN painted aluminum finish that matches the aluminum painted closers and holders across their line, so on a building already standardized on 689 door controls it drops in without a finish mismatch. If your openings are standardized on a dark bronze or brass finish, this part will not match.

You still need a closer. The SEM assembly only holds the door open and releases it when power drops; a manual door closer is what controls and closes the door. So on a new opening you're ordering three things: the SEM holding magnet, this connection link, and a separate door closer.

Commercial. The SEM series is heavy duty, electrically controlled door holding hardware built for institutional and commercial openings, the kind wired into a building fire alarm system, and this link is the commercial-duty connecting piece for that assembly. It isn't a residential product.
