Leviton 40159-W Telephone/Video Wall Jack, Screw Termination, White Decora®

The Leviton 40159-W Telephone/Video Wall Jack pairs simple screw termination wiring with the clean, contoured look of Leviton's Decora® design line, making it a practical choice for low-voltage telephone and video connections in homes, offices, and commercial buildings. This white wall jack gives installers a straightforward way to terminate telephone or video conductors behind a single, uncluttered faceplate opening, and its Decora® profile allows it to sit alongside Decora®-style switches, dimmers, and receptacles for a coordinated, modern wall appearance. Whether used for a new structured-cabling run or to replace an aging jack during a remodel, the 40159-W delivers a dependable, easy-to-terminate connection point for everyday voice and video wiring needs.

Key Features

  • Screw Termination: Screw-type terminals allow conductors to be stripped and secured directly to the jack, giving installers a solid, dependable mechanical and electrical connection without special crimp tools.
  • Telephone/Video Application: Configured to serve telephone and video low-voltage wiring, making it a flexible option for combined voice and video drops at a single wall location.
  • Decora® Design: Shares the smooth, rounded Decora® profile used across Leviton's decorator-style wiring devices, so it mounts cleanly into matching Decora® wallplates and blends with nearby switches and receptacles.
  • White Finish: A clean, neutral white finish suits most wall colors and trim schemes, keeping the finished installation looking tidy and unobtrusive.
  • Model 40159-W: Identified by Leviton part number 40159-W for accurate specification, ordering, and inventory tracking on the job or in the warehouse.
  • Space-Saving Single-Jack Format: Fits a single Decora®-style opening, letting installers combine it with other Decora® devices on a shared multi-gang wallplate.

Leviton 40159-W – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Leviton 40159-W fit a standard Decora wallplate opening?
Yes. The 40159-W telephone/video wall jack uses Leviton's Decora profile, so it drops into a single Decora-style opening and can share a multi-gang Decora wallplate with switches, dimmers and receptacles. If your plates are standard duplex-receptacle cutouts rather than Decora rocker openings, it won't fit without changing the plate.
2) Does the Leviton 40159-W need a crimp tool or punchdown tool to terminate?
No special tooling. The 40159-W uses screw terminations, so you strip the conductors and secure them under the screw terminals with a screwdriver. That is the practical difference from punchdown or crimp-style jacks, and it's why it works well for one-off repairs and trim-outs where you don't want to carry a tool.
3) Can I use the 40159-W for both a phone line and a video drop at the same wall location?
That's what it's configured for. The 40159-W is a telephone/video jack, intended to serve low-voltage voice and video wiring at a single wall opening, so a combined drop lands on one device rather than two separate plates.
4) I'm replacing an old phone jack during a remodel. Is the 40159-W a straight swap?
It works for retrofit as long as the existing plate is Decora-style or you're replacing the plate too. The 40159-W is built for both new structured-cabling runs and replacing aging telephone/video jacks, and because it terminates on screws you can reuse the existing conductors without re-pulling cable, provided they're long enough to strip back.
5) Is a wallplate included with the Leviton 40159-W?
The 40159-W is the jack insert alone, sized for a single Decora-style opening. You order the Decora wallplate separately, in the gang count your box requires, which also lets you combine the jack with other Decora devices on a shared plate.
6) What color is the Leviton 40159-W, and will it match my existing devices?
White. The -W suffix on the Leviton part number denotes the white finish, which matches white Decora switches, dimmers and receptacles for property managers standardizing a building on one color scheme.
