Leviton 80526-W – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Leviton 80526-W cover two duplex receptacles in a 2-gang box?
That's exactly what it's built for. The 80526-W is a 2-gang plate with two duplex receptacle cutouts, so it covers two adjacent device positions in a standard two-gang box with a duplex receptacle in each. If one of those positions is a toggle switch or a decorator device, this isn't the plate - you'd need a combination configuration instead.
2) Is this a standard size wallplate or oversized?
Standard size. The 80526-W is sized to match standard device boxes and openings, so it will not hide the extra wall damage that an oversized or jumbo plate covers. On a remodel where the drywall is cut wide around the box, plan on a jumbo plate instead.
3) What is thermoset wallplate material and how does it hold up compared to nylon or standard plastic?
Thermoset is a molded, heat-cured plastic that will not soften or re-flow once it is set. Leviton specifies it for this plate because it resists cracking, fading, and everyday impact better than standard plastics. It has a rigid, slightly matte feel rather than the flex of a nylon plate, which is why it is a common choice in corridors, rentals, and other higher-traffic openings.
4) What color is the Leviton 80526-W, and will it match other white Leviton devices in my building?
White. It is the standard Leviton white, so it lines up with white receptacles and white plates across the rest of the Leviton wiring device line - useful if you are standardizing a whole property on one color. Bear in mind thermoset and nylon in the same nominal white can read slightly differently side by side on the same wall, so if you are patching into existing plates, keep the material consistent.
5) Is this a flush mount plate for a box set in the wall, or a surface cover?
Flush mount, device style. The plate sits flat against the finished wall surface over a box recessed in the wall, giving a low-profile trim-out. It is not a surface-mount or weatherproof cover, so for an exposed box on a masonry wall or an outdoor location you want a box cover rated for that instead.
6) Do the mounting screws come with this Leviton 2-gang plate?
The 80526-W is manufactured with screw holes aligned to standard device mounting positions on a two-gang box, so it lands on the receptacle mounting screws without drilling or filing. Leviton supplies plates in the matching color of screw with the plate. If you are replacing a single plate and want a spare set on hand, order color-matched wallplate screws alongside it.
7) Can I use this plate on a new construction trim-out as well as a renovation?
Both. Because the opening layout is a standard two-gang duplex configuration, it drops onto newly installed receptacles at trim-out and onto existing duplex devices in a remodel with no change to the box or the device. The one thing to verify on older work is that the existing plate is also standard size rather than oversized.
8) What is the Leviton part number for this white 2-gang duplex receptacle wallplate?
Leviton 80526-W. The 526 identifies the two-gang duplex receptacle configuration and the W suffix is the white finish, which is how the same plate is designated across the Leviton thermoset line.
