Leviton Thermoset Device Mount Tamper-Resistant Single-Gang Receptacle Wallplate

The Leviton Thermoset Device Mount Tamper-Resistant Single-Gang Receptacle Wallplate is built for electricians and facility teams who need a rugged, single-gang wallplate that pairs with tamper-resistant receptacle devices. Molded from durable thermoset material, this device-mount wallplate is engineered to resist cracking, heat, and everyday jobsite wear far better than standard housings. Finished in brown and sized for a single receptacle opening, it is designed to seat cleanly over standard single-gang device boxes throughout commercial and residential construction. As part of the Leviton wiring device lineup, it delivers the fit, function, and dependability professionals expect on every job.

Key Features

Leviton 85004 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Leviton 85004 wallplate itself make an outlet tamper-resistant?
No. The 85004 is a cover plate only. Tamper resistance comes from the receptacle behind it, which has the shutter mechanism; this thermoset plate is the device-mount cover configured for use over tamper-resistant receptacle devices. If you need TR protection, order TR receptacles and use this plate as the trim.
2) Will the Leviton 85004 fit a standard single-gang device box?
Yes. It is a one-gang plate sized for a single receptacle opening and seats over standard single-gang device boxes in both commercial and residential work. It mounts directly to the device, so no adapter ring or extra bracket is needed.
3) Is thermoset better than a standard plastic wallplate for high-traffic areas?
For corridors, classrooms, break rooms and other areas that take abuse, thermoset is the choice. It is a molded material that resists heat, impact and everyday jobsite wear better than lighter plastic wallplates, which is why facility teams standardize on it where plates get bumped by carts and furniture.
4) Can I use this Leviton plate on a retrofit, or is it new construction only?
Both. It works for new-construction trim-out and for swapping a cracked or discolored plate on an existing single-gang receptacle, since it mounts to the device in a standard box either way.
5) Is this a single-receptacle plate or a duplex plate?
It is sized to fit one standard single-gang receptacle opening. Confirm the opening style on your device before ordering, because a plate cut for one receptacle configuration will not trim out a different device type cleanly.
