Lockey LEVER-SC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I convert a Lockey 2830 keyless knob lock to a lever without replacing the whole lock?
That is exactly what the Lockey 2835 conversion lever does. It swaps the knob on an existing 2830 mechanical keyless combination passage knob lock over to a lever, so the combination mechanism, the door prep and the lock body all stay put. You are changing how the door is operated, not re-keying or re-drilling the opening.
2) Which Lockey locks does the 2835 lever fit?
The 2835 lever is built for the Lockey 2830 and 2835 series mechanical keyless locks: the 2830 combination passage knob lock and the 2835 combination passage lever lock. It is not a general-purpose lever, so it will not mount to another manufacturer's lockset or to a Lockey deadbolt-style unit.
3) We need lever handles on our doors for accessibility. Is a lever conversion enough, or do we have to buy new locks?
If the doors already carry Lockey 2830 keyless knob locks, the 2835 lever converts them in place, which is the cheaper path across a building full of openings. Lever operation is easier for anyone with limited hand strength or grip than a knob is. Note that this is a passage-function conversion, so the lock's behaviour does not change, only the handle you turn.
4) Is the Lockey 2835 lever a complete lock or just the handle?
Just the handle. The 2835 is a conversion component that mounts to a Lockey 2830 or 2835 keyless mechanical lock you already have, or that you buy separately. There is no keypad, latch or combination mechanism in the box, so ordering this on its own for a bare door leaves you without a working lock.
5) What finishes does the Lockey 2835 conversion lever come in?
Nine finishes: satin chrome, bright chrome, satin nickel, bright brass, antique brass, oil-rubbed bronze, jet black, white, and a marine grade. If you are converting a run of doors and want the levers to match trim already on site, the spread covers both the common commercial chrome and nickel families and the darker bronze and black looks. Marine grade is the one to specify for coastal or pool-deck openings where salt exposure is the concern.
6) Do I need to order two 2835 levers to do both sides of the door?
Check what your 2830 has on it before you order. Lockey's 2830 knob lock carries operating trim on each face, so a full conversion means one lever per side. Ordering a single lever leaves you with a lever outside and a knob inside, or the reverse, which is usually not what an accessibility upgrade is after.
7) Will the 2835 lever change the combination or security of my Lockey keyless lock?
No. The conversion touches the handle only. The keyless combination mechanism, its code and the lock's security function stay as they are, so there is no need to reprogram anything after fitting the lever.
8) Is the Lockey 2835 lever rated for commercial traffic?
It is a commercial-grade component, and Lockey lists it for office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, industrial and warehouse sites, multi-tenant residential and government buildings. Those are the traffic levels it is built around, rather than light residential duty only.
