1) Will the Metallics BFR18 masonry bit fit a standard 3/8 inch drill chuck?
Yes. The BFR18 has a 1/4 inch round shank, so it seats in any 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch keyed or keyless chuck. It is not an SDS bit, so it will not go into a rotary hammer with an SDS-plus or SDS-max chuck without an adapter.
2) What size hole does the Metallics BFR18 drill, and how deep can it go?
It cuts a 7/16 inch diameter hole. The bit is 6 inches overall, so usable drilling depth is less than that once the shank is in the chuck. For a 7/16 inch hole you are typically setting a 3/8 inch sleeve or wedge anchor, which calls for a 7/16 inch bit.
3) Can this carbide masonry bit drill concrete, brick and block?
The BFR18 is a carbide-tipped masonry bit with a slow spiral flute, which is the standard geometry for concrete, brick, block and mortar. The slow (low helix) spiral clears dust steadily and stands up to hammer action better than a fast-spiral metal bit. It is not intended for steel or wood.
4) Does the Metallics BFR18 come as a single bit or in a set?
One bit per pouch. The BFR18 is sold as a single piece in a pouch pack, not as a graduated set, so order by the diameter you need.
