Metallics BTT25 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How deep can I drill with the BTT25 masonry bit?
It is an extra-long bit with a 6 inch dimension called out, so plan on anchor holes through brick, block or concrete in that depth range. For through-drilling a thicker wall than that, you need a longer bit, not this one.
2) Can I use the BTT25 in a rotary hammer for concrete anchor holes?
Only if the tool takes a straight 1/2 inch round shank. Most rotary hammers use SDS-Plus, SDS-Max or spline drive and will not grip this bit. In a 1/2 inch chuck hammer drill it works as intended for masonry.
3) Is the Metallics BTT25 sold individually or in a box of bits?
One bit per pouch. Order quantity equals number of bits, so if you want a spare on the truck for a 7/8 inch anchor run, order two.
4) What is a 7/8 inch masonry bit normally used for on an electrical job?
A 7/8 inch hole in block or concrete is the usual size for larger sleeve and wedge anchors and for pulling conduit or cable through a masonry wall. The BTT25 is the Metallics bit for that diameter, with the extra length to get through a wythe of brick or block rather than just a surface anchor hole.
5) Will the BTT25 drill steel or wood?
No. It is ground for masonry, brick, block and concrete. Running it in steel or driving it as a wood bit will dull the carbide tip and leave you with a ragged hole. Use a twist bit or auger for those materials.
