Bemis 1881SLOW 000 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Mayfair 1881SLOW toilet seat fit my toilet's bolt holes?
The 1881SLOW is built for a 5.5 inch bolt spread, which is the standard center-to-center spacing on two-bolt residential toilets in North America. Measure from the center of one mounting hole to the center of the other on your bowl; if it comes out at 5-1/2 inches, this seat lines up.
2) Is the Mayfair Little2Big seat elongated or round, and how do I tell which one my toilet takes?
It is an elongated seat, measuring 18.563 inches long by 14.125 inches wide with a 1.938 inch seat height. Measure your bowl from the center of the bolt holes to the front rim: roughly 18-1/2 inches means elongated, about 16-1/2 inches means round. A round bowl needs a round seat, not this one.
3) Do I need a separate child potty seat if I buy the Mayfair 1881SLOW?
No. The child seat is built into the lid, so the toddler ring stows inside the cover instead of sitting on the bathroom floor. One seat serves both adults and a training child, and the child seat lifts out for good once it is no longer needed.
4) Will the Mayfair Little2Big seat fit toilets from other brands?
It fits most manufacturers' elongated bowls, as long as the bowl uses the standard 5.5 inch bolt spread. The seat is not brand specific, so a Kohler, American Standard, or Toto elongated bowl on standard spacing takes it.
5) Will this Mayfair seat loosen up and shift like a standard toilet seat?
The STA-TITE fastening system is what keeps it tight, and that matters more than usual here because a toddler sitting on the built-in child ring puts the load off center. It snaps into place and is intended not to work loose in service.
6) Is the Mayfair 1881SLOW a slow-close seat?
Yes, it uses the Whisper-Close hinge, so the lid and ring lower to the bowl on their own instead of dropping. For a household with small kids that is the pinched-finger fix, and in a rental or multi-family unit it takes seat slamming out of the noise complaints.
7) What are the Mayfair Little2Big seat and hinges made of, and how does that hold up to cleaning?
Both the seat and the hinges are plastic. A molded plastic seat wipes down with normal bathroom cleaners and does not absorb like a wood-core seat, which is the reason it suits a potty-training bathroom. Plastic hinges also mean no corrosion streaking at the bolt points.
8) What color does the Mayfair 1881SLOW come in?
White only, ordered as 1881SLOW 000. If you are matching several bathrooms in a building, white is the one finish offered on this model, so it standardizes cleanly across units.
9) Where is the Mayfair 1881SLOW made?
Country of origin is the US, and Bemis states the seat is designed and assembled in the USA. That matters if you are buying under a domestic-preference purchasing policy.
