The EP-5J steel jamb mount center hung pivot set is used in conjunction with CSS-9 Combination Strike and Stops and DS-6 Emergency Door Stops and is used for full size doors where mounting a bottom pivot on the floor is not possible or desirable. It's recommended for installations on average frequency doors in public buildings.

The top pivot is full mortise, and the jamb side is mortised as well. Square-edge doors won't work without being reworked, so confirm the door is prepped for a radius heel before you order.
3) Will the McKinney EP-5J pivot set let a door swing both directions?
Double acting, yes. The EP-5J is a center hung set for double acting doors, so the leaf swings in and out.
