Yes. Both line and load terminals on the Milbank U511 ringless sockets accept 6 AWG through 350 kcmil, so 4/0 aluminum lands without adapters. The terminals are lay-in type, which makes dressing large service conductors into the gutter easier than a straight-in barrel lug.
2) Do I need a 2-position or 3-position meter socket for a multi-unit building?
One position per metered tenant. The 2-position U5112-X-5T9-BL covers a duplex; the 3-position U5113-X-5T9-BL covers three units. These are 5 terminal (5th jaw) sockets. The 5th terminal is what most utilities require for a 1-phase, 3-wire service where the neutral is brought through the socket separately. If your utility spec calls for a plain 4-jaw 1-phase socket, this is not the right part. Utility requirements on jaw count are not interchangeable, so match the spec sheet your power company issued for the address.
5) Will this Milbank socket work for an underground service lateral, or is it overhead only?
