1) Will the Milbank U5818-RL-200S work for a 200 amp mobile home service on 120/240V single phase?
Yes. The U5818-RL-200S is a single phase, 200 continuous ampere ringless meter socket rated up to 240 volts AC at 60 Hz, with one 200 ampere main breaker built in. It is specifically built for mobile home power service. It will not serve a 3-phase or 208V wye service.
2) Is this Milbank meter socket ringless or does it take a sealing ring?
Ringless. The U5818-RL-200S uses a ringless cover with 4 terminal jaws and lay-in terminals, so the lineman lands the conductors without a ring-type sealing collar. Check with your utility first, some POCOs specify ring-type only and will not accept a ringless can.
3) Can this meter socket be fed overhead, or is it underground only?
It is configured for underground service entry, with a small hub opening closing plate on top. For an overhead drop you would want a socket set up with a full-size hub opening for a service mast, not this one.
4) Can this be mounted outside on a pedestal or exterior wall of a manufactured home?
Yes. It is a surface mount unit with a Type 3R rain-tight enclosure of G90 galvanized steel with a powder coat finish, so it is intended for outdoor installation. Overall size is 5.5L x 10W x 30H inches, which matters when you are laying out a pedestal or a tight sidewall.
