Mulberry 30381Z – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Mulberry 30381Z blank cover actually do, and does it have any device openings?
The Mulberry 30381Z is a solid plate with no openings. It closes off a 4-inch weatherproof box that has no device in it, keeping moisture, dust, and debris out of the enclosure. If you need to mount a receptacle, switch, or lamp in that box, this is the wrong cover, you want a configured weatherproof cover with the matching device opening.
2) Will a Mulberry 30381Z cover fit a 4-inch round weatherproof box?
It is sized for standard 4-inch weatherproof box openings. Match the box opening dimension and shape on the box you have, since 4-inch covers are made to seat on that trade size opening; the 30381Z is the 4-inch blank in zinc die-cast.
3) Is the Wiremold V5736 blank cover a substitute for the Mulberry 30381Z?
No. The Mulberry 30381Z is a 4-inch weatherproof blank cover in powder-coated die-cast zinc, made to close off an unused 4-inch weatherproof box opening on an exterior enclosure. The Wiremold V5736 is an ivory steel blank cover for 500/700 Series surface metal raceway, so it fits a raceway run rather than a weatherproof outlet box. If the opening you are closing is a 4-inch wet-location box, the 30381Z is the part; if it is a 500/700 Series raceway, the V5736 is.
4) Is a die-cast zinc blank cover OK for outdoor wet-location use?
Yes. The 30381Z body is die-cast zinc with a powder-coated finish, a combination used on exterior boxes to resist corrosion and weathering. Typical uses are sealing unused weatherproof box openings on commercial and residential wet-location wiring, both new construction and retrofit.
5) What part number should I order for a Mulberry 4-inch weatherproof blank cover?
Order Mulberry 30381Z. That is the single model on the 4-inch zinc die-cast blank, so there are no finish or size choices to specify. For property managers standardizing across a building, the one part number covers every unused 4-inch weatherproof box.
6) Do I need a gasket or screws with the Mulberry 30381Z blank cover?
Mounting hardware and sealing provisions vary by the box you are capping, so plan on reusing the box's cover screws and, where your installation calls for it, a weatherproof gasket sized to the 4-inch opening. The 30381Z itself is the powder-coated zinc plate.
