1) What is a duplex nail used for, and why would I pick one over a common nail?
A duplex (double head) nail is for temporary wood construction, concrete form work, bracing, scaffold planking and site fencing. The Metallics MN16DP has a second head that stands off the wood so the nail can be gripped and pulled, which makes extraction and disassembly easy when the temporary structure comes down. If the wood is staying up permanently, use a common or sinker nail instead so the head can be driven flush.

4) Are these bright finish nails okay to leave outside on a form job?
The MN16DP is bright steel, meaning plain uncoated steel with no galvanizing or other corrosion coating. It is fine for the short service life of forms, bracing and temporary partitions, including typical outdoor form work that gets stripped in days or weeks. For anything left exposed to weather long term, or in contact with treated lumber, choose a hot dip galvanized duplex nail instead.
5) Are these hand drive nails or will they run in a coil nailer?
These are loose, flat head hand drive duplex nails packed in a jar, not collated strips or coils, so they are driven with a hammer. A pneumatic nailer needs collated duplex nails made for that specific tool.
