Nibco R00170PC – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the Nibco PC-7 battery on a press tool from another brand?
No. The PC-7 pack is tested and approved for the NIBCO PC-100 press tool only. NIBCO's own guidance is to use only pressing tools, jaws and chain sets approved for use with NIBCO Press System fittings and valves, and the same applies to the tool's power pack. Mixing in a battery from another tool line is outside that approval.
2) What part number do I order for a spare NIBCO PC-100 press tool battery?
Order model R00170PC. That is the PC-7 12V, 3.0 Ah battery pack for the PC-100. Crews running press all day usually carry a second pack so one is on the charger while the other is on the tool.
3) Does the Nibco PC-7 battery come with a charger or jaws?
It's the battery alone, model R00170PC, 12V and 3.0 Ah. Jaws and chain sets for copper press connections are separate items, and so is the charger. If you're building out a press kit from scratch, plan on the PC-100 tool plus the jaw sizes matching the copper you're running.
4) Is the PC-100 press tool this battery powers suitable for commercial work, or just residential?
Both. The NIBCO Press System the PC-100 tool serves is used on commercial plumbing, residential plumbing, heating, HVAC, industrial, irrigation, and automatic sprinkler systems. The PC-7 pack is the 12V, 3.0 Ah power source for that tool across all of those applications.
5) What piping does the NIBCO press tool this battery runs make connections on?
The PC-100 tool, which the PC-7 battery powers, makes permanent press connections between copper piping and NIBCO Press System fittings and valves, including copper and copper alloy fittings and commercial valves. The connection method is press, not solder.
