Nibco R00175PC – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use any 18V battery in my Nibco PC-280 press tool instead of the PC-7L?
No. Nibco states that only tools, jaws and chain sets tested and approved for the NIBCO Press System should be used to make connections on their copper fittings and valves, and the PC-7L is the approved 18V 3.0 Ah pack for the PC-280 and PC-20M. Substituting an unapproved pack risks an incomplete press on a joint that is meant to be permanent.
2) What is the Nibco part number for the PC-7L press tool battery?
Order it as Nibco PC-7L, manufacturer part number R00175PC. That is the single orderable configuration, so there are no voltage or capacity choices to specify.
3) Is the PC-7L a rechargeable battery, and does it come with a charger?
It is a rechargeable lithium-ion pack. The PC-7L is sold as the battery itself, an accessory or replacement part for the press tool, so a charger is a separate item you'll need if you don't already have one from the tool kit.
4) Is the PC-7L a battery for a press tool or a battery-powered valve actuator?
It's a tool battery, nothing to do with the piping itself. The PC-7L is a press tool accessory that drives the jaw or chain set on a Nibco press gun to make the mechanical press connection on copper pipe and NIBCO Press System fittings and valves.
