1) What wire sizes does the Sta-Kon C73U ring terminal crimp onto?
The C73U takes 12 to 10 AWG stranded copper conductor. Anything smaller than 12 AWG will not hold a reliable crimp in that barrel, and 8 AWG won't enter it, so step to the next barrel size up or down if your conductor falls outside that range.
2) Why would I use a 90 degree bend ring terminal instead of a straight one?
The C73U's tongue is formed at a right angle to the barrel, so the wire runs parallel to the panel face or enclosure wall while the ring lands flat on a stud that faces out. That saves you from bending the conductor itself in a shallow gutter or tight breaker pocket. If your stud is in line with the wire run, use a straight non-insulated ring instead.
3) Can I use the C73U on aluminum conductor?
No. The C73U is a copper terminal and is meant for copper conductor only. Aluminum needs an AL9CU-rated or aluminum-bodied connector; crimping aluminum into a plain copper barrel sets up a dissimilar-metal joint that corrodes and loosens.
4) How is the C73U terminal attached to the wire?
It's a crimp terminal, not a solder or set-screw lug. Strip the 12-10 AWG conductor, seat it fully in the copper barrel, and compress it with a crimp tool matched to the 12-10 AWG die. There is no color-coded insulation to index the die against, so go by the barrel size.
