1) What sizes come in the Klein Tools 65160 nut driver set?
Seven metric nut drivers: 5, 5.5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10mm, corresponding to Klein's 630-series individual drivers (630-5mm through 630-10mm). All metric only, so if your panel hardware is inch sizes (1/4, 5/16, 3/8) this set won't cover it.
2) Are these Klein nut drivers insulated for live electrical work?
No. The 65160 set is not insulated and will not protect against electrical shock. For energized work you need a 1000V-rated insulated driver set instead. The chrome plated shafts are bare metal, so de-energize and verify before using these in a panel.
3) Can these nut drivers reach down over a long bolt or threaded stud?
Yes. The shafts are full hollow, so the driver slides down over bolt or stud threads that project past the nut rather than bottoming out. That's what makes them useful on stacked circuit boards, standoffs and long machine screws. Shaft length is 3 inches (7.6 cm) with an overall tool length of 6.75 inches (17.1 cm), so figure roughly that 3 inches as your usable depth.
4) Will a 3-inch shaft nut driver fit into a tight junction box or a recessed enclosure?
The 3-inch shaft is Klein's standard length, chosen to suit most applications while still clearing long bolts and studs. In a crowded box you get 6.75 inches of total tool, so you need that much clearance in front of the fastener plus knuckle room for the Cushion-Grip handle. For deep recesses where 3 inches of shaft won't reach the nut, you want a 6-inch shaft set instead.
5) Will the shaft spin loose in the handle under heavy torque?
Each driver uses internal flanges inside the handle to anchor the shaft against twisting, and the Cushion-Grip handle is built to let you put more torque on the fastener comfortably. The set meets or exceeds applicable ASME/ANSI specifications and the drivers are made in the USA.
6) How do you tell the sizes apart quickly when they're loose in a pouch?
Two ways on the 65160 drivers: Tip-Ident marking on the handle end shows the driver type and size, and the handle ends are also color coded. Pull one out of the pouch and you can read the size off the butt of the handle without checking the shaft.
7) Are these nut drivers OK for outdoor or damp service work?
The shafts are premium chrome plated, which Klein specifies for corrosion resistance as well as a smoother feel going in and out of a pouch. That holds up to normal field and service-truck handling. They are still bare uninsulated metal, so treat them as mechanical tools only.
