2) Does the Metallics JSN18D nut meet a dimensional standard I can put on a submittal?
It is made to ANSI/ASME B18.2.2, the dimensional standard for hex nuts, with hardness of Rockwell B95 to C32. Country of origin is the United States. Note it is not Buy American compliant and not ARRA compliant, which matters on federally funded work.

4) Is 18-8 stainless good enough for outdoor or damp electrical work?

6) Is this a finished hex nut or a heavy hex nut?
The JSN18D is a standard finished hex pattern, not a heavy hex. Thickness is roughly 0.875 times the nominal diameter and width across the flats is roughly 1.5 times nominal, which is the finished hex proportion under ANSI/ASME B18.2.2. A heavy hex nut of the same 1/2 inch thread would be wider across the flats and will not share the same socket.
