NUVO Lighting 60-7490 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What bulb does the NUVO Colony 60-7490 semi-flush take, and is one included?
The Colony 60-7490 takes a single A19 lamp on an E26 medium base, rated to 60W max at 120V. No bulb ships with it, so order lamps separately. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you put in it; the fixture has no driver of its own.
    2) Can I put the NUVO Colony 60-7490 in a bathroom, over a shower, or on a covered porch?
No. It is a dry location rated indoor fixture only. That rules out shower and tub zones, covered exterior porches, and anywhere exposed to steam or splashing. For a bath or porch you need a damp or wet rated close-to-ceiling fixture instead. A powder room with good ventilation and no direct spray is generally fine.
    3) Does the NUVO 60-7490 mount to a standard ceiling junction box, and how much wire is there to work with?
It is a ceiling-mounted close-to-ceiling fixture with 72 inches of supply wire, which is plenty of slack to make up connections in the box and tuck the rest. At 4.55 lbs it is well within the load any properly secured ceiling outlet box will carry.
    4) Is the NUVO Colony 60-7490 UL listed for commercial and multi-family installs?
It carries a cULus safety listing, so it is certified for both US and Canadian installation, which is what most inspectors and institutional specs are looking for on a corridor or unit fixture.
    5) Is this an LED fixture or a standard bulb fixture?
The Colony 60-7490 is an incandescent-technology fixture, meaning it is a socket-based fixture rather than an integrated LED. You can lamp it with an LED A19 on an E26 base if you want the efficiency, and that also lets you pick your own color temperature, since the fixture has no selectable CCT of its own.
    6) If I am standardizing fixtures across a building, what do I order to match this one?
Order NUVO part 60-7490 from the Colony collection. It ships in one configuration only, matte white with burnished brass, so there is no finish or size code to specify. Note it is the small 15 inch diameter version of the Colony semi-flush.
    7) What is the Colony 60-7490 actually made of, and will the finish hold up in a rental turn?
Both the body and the bowl shade are steel, not glass or acrylic, so there is nothing to crack during a turn or a move-out. The shade is matte white with burnished brass accent. Steel also means it wipes down rather than chipping at the edges like a painted resin trim.
    8) Does the NUVO 60-7490 carry a California Prop 65 warning?
Yes, it is flagged for lead under California Prop 65. If you are shipping to or installing in California, the warning needs to accompany the product.
