NUVO Lighting 60-7496 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What bulb does the NUVO Colony 60-7496 semi-flush fixture take, and is one included?
It takes a single A19 lamp with an E26 medium base, rated to 60W max at 120V. No bulb ships with the fixture, so order lamps separately. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you install, so if you need it on a dimmer, spec a dimmable LED A19 in an E26 base.
    2) Can the NUVO Colony 60-7496 be used on a covered porch or in a bathroom with a shower?
No. The Colony large semi-flush is rated for dry locations and indoor use only. Covered porches, breezeways, and shower or tub zones call for a damp- or wet-rated fixture instead. An enclosed hallway, bedroom, dining room, or office ceiling is where this one belongs.
    3) Will this NUVO fixture pass inspection on a commercial or multi-family job?
The Colony 60-7496 carries a cULus safety listing, which covers both US and Canadian requirements for a listed luminaire. It is a 120V dry-location indoor fixture, so it suits corridors, leasing offices, and unit interiors. Note the California Prop 65 disclosure for lead, which matters if your purchasing group tracks Prop 65 on submittals.
    4) Is the shade on the Colony semi-flush glass or metal?
Metal. Both the base and the bowl-shaped shade are steel, finished matte white with burnished brass accent. There is no glass diffuser to break or yellow, which is part of why property managers put these in rental turns and corridors. Light throws up and out of the bowl rather than down through a lens.
    5) Can I put an LED bulb in this instead of incandescent?
Yes. The fixture is built around incandescent technology with a 60W ceiling, but the socket is a standard E26 medium base taking an A19 lamp, so any A19 LED at or under 60W equivalent draw drops right in. Going LED is also the way to get dimming, since dimming here is determined by the lamp and not the fixture.
    6) Can I get the Colony 60-7496 in a different finish or a smaller diameter?
Model 60-7496 is built one way: matte white with burnished brass, 24 inch diameter, one lamp. If you are standardizing finishes across a building, that is the single combination to spec under this part number.
