NUVO Lighting 60-7492 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can the NUVO Colony 60-7492 semi-flush be installed in a bathroom or covered porch?
No. The Colony 60-7492 is rated for dry locations and indoor use only, so keep it out of bathrooms with shower moisture, covered porches, and any damp-rated application. It carries a cULus safety listing for that dry indoor use. For a tub or shower area or an exterior soffit, you need a damp- or wet-rated fixture instead.
    2) What bulb does the NUVO Colony 60-7492 take, and is one included?
One A19 lamp with an E26 medium base, 60W maximum, on 120V. No bulb ships with the fixture, so order lamps separately. If you want it on a dimmer, the dimming behavior is lamp dependent, meaning you have to choose a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, the fixture itself has no driver.
    3) Will a standard ceiling junction box support this fixture?
At 4.55 lbs, the Colony semi-flush is well within the 50 lb capacity of a standard listed ceiling outlet box, so no fan brace or extra support is needed. It mounts to the ceiling and comes with 72 inches of supply wire, which gives plenty of slack to make up connections in the box.
    4) Is the NUVO Colony 60-7492 metal or glass, and how does it hold up in rental turnovers?
All steel. Both the body and the bowl shade are steel, finished matte black with polished nickel accents, so there is no glass to crack during a turnover or a move-out. That makes it a practical repeat spec for apartment hallways, bedrooms, and entries where fixtures get knocked.
    5) Can I match other rooms in the same Colony style, and what finish does 60-7492 come in?
The 60-7492 is part of NUVO's Colony collection in a modern style, and it is offered in one finish combination: matte black with polished nickel. If you are standardizing a floor or a building, order the same 60-7492 for every opening rather than mixing finishes, since this particular fixture has no alternate finish option.
    6) Does the NUVO Colony 60-7492 carry a California Prop 65 warning?
Yes. The fixture carries a California Proposition 65 warning for lead. If you are buying for a California project or a public facility with disclosure requirements, note that on your submittal.
