NUVO Lighting 60-7844 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What rods and hardware come with the NUVO Altos 60-7844 pendant, and how low can it hang?
The Altos 5-light large pendant ships with two 6 inch rods, two 12 inch rods, and 12 feet of wire. Stack the rods to set your drop; maximum overall height with all rods installed is 46.38 inches. It is a ceiling-mounted fixture, so you are working from a standard ceiling outlet box.
    2) What bulbs does the NUVO 60-7844 Altos pendant take, and are they included?
Five medium E26 base lamps, 60W maximum each, and no bulbs are supplied. NUVO styles it around an ST19 shape lamp, which is the exposed vintage-style bulb the open frame is meant to show off. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you choose, so if the room is on a dimmer, buy dimmable bulbs.
    3) Can I hang the Altos 60-7844 pendant over a bathroom vanity or in a covered porch?
It is damp location rated and listed for indoor use, so a bathroom or an enclosed, covered area with no direct water contact is fine. A covered exterior porch exposed to blowing rain is not, since the fixture is not wet rated or rated for outdoor use. Safety listing is cULus.
    4) How wide is the NUVO Altos 5-light pendant and will it work over a kitchen island?
The fixture is 22 inches wide and 7.38 inches tall, so it reads as one broad statement piece rather than a row of minis. Over a standard island, a single 22 inch fixture centers well; on a long island most installers run two smaller pendants instead. Drop is adjustable up to 46.38 inches overall using the supplied rods.
    5) How much does the NUVO 60-7844 pendant weigh, and does my ceiling box need to be rated?
It weighs 8.8 lbs. That is inside the 50 lb capacity of a standard fixture-rated outlet box, but a plain plastic box or one that is loose in the framing should be replaced with a listed fixture box before hanging it. Runs on 120V.
    6) How much wire lead does the NUVO 60-7844 pendant give me for a high ceiling?
12 feet of wire, 144 inches, comes with the fixture. Rod length is the real limit, not the wire: with the two 6 inch and two 12 inch rods supplied, total height tops out at 46.38 inches, so a two-story foyer needs additional rod stock rather than more conductor.
    7) What is the NUVO 60-7844 made of, and what finish does it come in?
Steel body in a two-tone matte black with natural brass finish, from NUVO's Altos collection, styled transitional. That mixed-metal combination is the point of the fixture: it reads against both black and brass accents already in a room, which matters when you are matching cabinet pulls or faucets rather than starting fresh.
    8) Does the NUVO Altos 60-7844 pendant carry a California Prop 65 warning?
Yes. It is flagged for lead under California Prop 65, which is standard for steel lighting hardware and is the notice a property manager or institutional buyer needs on file. The fixture is also RoHS compliant.
