NUVO Lighting 62-1751 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the NUVO 62-1751 disk light be installed without cutting a new ceiling hole?
Yes. The 62-1751 is a surface-mount disk light that fixes to the ceiling, and it ships with an E26 adaptor so it can be screwed into an existing lamp holder in a keyless porcelain socket or old ceiling fixture box. At 0.71 inch tall and 5.31 inches in diameter it sits nearly flush, which is why it gets used to convert bare-bulb sockets in closets, hallways and laundry rooms without recessed housing work.
2) Is this 5 inch NUVO disk light rated for a shower, covered patio or other damp area?
The 62-1751 carries a wet location rating and is cETLus safety listed, so it can go in a shower ceiling or a covered exterior soffit where water contact is possible. NUVO classes the fixture itself as indoor, so for open exposed locations use a fixture specifically listed for outdoor use.
3) Will the NUVO 62-1751 match the other disk lights already in my building, or is the color temperature adjustable?
It is fixed at 3000K warm white, not CCT selectable, so every unit in the 12 pack reads the same. If the existing fixtures in the building are 2700K or 4000K the 62-1751 will be visibly different alongside them. For fleet standardization across a property, pick the single CCT you want and order it throughout rather than relying on field switching.
4) Does this NUVO disk light work on a dimmer, and what voltage circuit does it need?
Dimmable, on standard 120V line voltage. It is an integrated LED, so the driver is built in and there is no lamp to swap, which also means it needs a dimmer rated for LED loads rather than an old incandescent rheostat. Do not put it on a 277V circuit.
5) How many fixtures come in NUVO 62-1751, and is that enough for a multi-unit job?
62-1751 is sold as a 12 pack of the 5 inch white round disk light. That case quantity is aimed at repeat work: a floor of apartment closets, a corridor retrofit, or stocking an MRO shelf with one standard part. Each fixture weighs 0.82 lbs.
6) Can I replace just the LED when it burns out on this disk light?
No. The LED is integrated with no replaceable lamp and no socket, so when the light module reaches end of life the whole fixture is swapped. Plan maintenance stock around the fixture, not bulbs. Rated life is 50,000 hours.
7) What is the housing made of, and will it yellow or crack in a high-traffic hallway?
The body is polycarbonate, the same impact-resistant plastic used on most LED disk trims, finished in white. Polycarbonate takes knocks better than glass or acrylic, which is why it holds up in corridors, stairwells and storage rooms. Rated life is 50,000 hours on the integrated LED.
8) Does the NUVO 62-1751 need a Prop 65 disclosure for California work?
Yes. NUVO lists lead as a California Prop 65 chemical for the 62-1751, so a California job needs the warning passed through. The fixture is RoHS compliant.
