NUVO Lighting 62-1812 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the NUVO 62-1812 disk light mount to an existing junction box?
Yes. The 62-1812 mounts directly to a 3 inch or 4 inch junction box at the ceiling, so it works as a drop-in replacement where an old surface fixture or keyless was wired to a box. The fixture is 9.49 inches in diameter and 1.44 inches tall, so the canopy covers the box opening and sits close to the ceiling.
2) How do you set the color temperature on the NUVO 62-1812 5-CCT selectable disk light?
Color temperature is picked on the fixture itself, not ordered as a separate SKU. The 62-1812 uses selectable CCT with five positions: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K. That means one part number covers warm residential corridors at 2700K or 3000K and cooler back-of-house and utility areas at 4000K or 5000K, which is why property managers and MRO buyers tend to stock this instead of five separate color temperatures.
3) Can this LED disk light be used in a shower, covered porch, or bathroom ceiling?
The 62-1812 carries a wet location rating with a cETLus safety listing, so damp and wet interior locations such as bathrooms and shower ceilings are within its rating. It is classified as an indoor fixture, so use it under cover rather than fully exposed outdoors.
4) Is the NUVO 62-1812 disk light dimmable, and does it need a special LED dimmer?
Yes, the 62-1812 is dimmable on a 120V circuit. Because the LED is integrated rather than a replaceable lamp, dimming performance depends on the control, so pair it with a dimmer rated for LED loads and check the fixture's own instruction sheet for the compatible dimmer list before you commit a whole floor to one control.
5) Can the LED be replaced when it burns out in this disk light?
No. The light source in the 62-1812 is an integrated LED, not a socketed lamp, so there is no bulb to change. It is rated for 50,000 average hours, and at end of life the fixture is replaced as a unit. Buyers standardizing a building should keep that in mind for long-term parts planning.
6) Is a 10 inch disk light or the 7 inch version the right choice?
NUVO's CCT selectable disk lights come in both 7 inch and 10 inch sizes. The 10 inch 62-1812 measures 9.49 inches across and puts out 1000 to 1150 lumens, so it is the one to use for general room lighting or where it has to cover a larger existing fixture footprint. Step down to the 7 inch where the ceiling area is tight, over a closet, or where you want a smaller visual footprint in a corridor run.
7) Is the color rendering on this disk light good enough for retail or healthcare spaces?
The 62-1812 is rated at 93 CRI, which is high for a disk light and well above the 80 CRI typical of commodity LED ceiling fixtures. That level of color accuracy holds up in patient rooms, hospitality guest rooms, and retail areas where merchandise and skin tones have to look right.
8) How durable is the NUVO 62-1812 for high-traffic multi-family corridors?
The housing is steel with an acrylic lens, and the fixture weighs 0.86 lbs, so it is light enough to hang off a standard junction box but not a plastic-bodied unit. It also includes built-in 2.5KV surge protection, which matters in buildings with frequent electrical transients. Finish is brushed nickel.
9) Is the NUVO 62-1812 available in a contractor multi-pack?
NUVO's CCT selectable disk lights are sold individually or in 6-pack contractor packs, so a crew relamping a full floor can order in bulk rather than piece by piece. The 62-1812 itself is the 10 inch brushed nickel configuration; it is RoHS compliant.
