NUVO Lighting 62-1802 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the NUVO 62-1802 disk light mount to an existing ceiling junction box?
Yes. The 62-1802 is a ceiling-mount disk light that fits 3 inch and 4 inch junction boxes, so it drops onto standard existing boxes without new framing. The fixture is 7.42 inches in diameter and only 1.42 inches tall, so it covers the box opening and sits close to the ceiling.
2) Can I use this LED disk light in a bathroom, shower area, or covered porch?
The 62-1802 carries a Wet location rating, so damp bathrooms and shower ceilings are within its rating. It is classified as an indoor fixture, so for exterior soffits and porches use an exterior-rated luminaire instead. Safety listing is cETLus.
3) How do I set the color temperature on the NUVO 62-1802, and which ones can I pick?
It is a field-selectable CCT fixture with five settings: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K. You choose the setting at install, so one part number covers warm residential-feeling spaces and cooler commercial corridors. Nothing extra to order, and you can standardize a whole building on one SKU and set each area to taste.
4) How much light does a 15W 7-inch disk light put out, and how many do I need per room?
Output is 860 to 980 lumens at 15 watts, 120 volts, with the exact figure depending on which of the five color temperature settings you select. That is roughly a 60 to 75 watt incandescent equivalent per fixture, so a small bathroom or closet is typically one unit and a bedroom or hallway run uses several spaced along the ceiling.
5) Is the 62-1802 dimmable, and does it need a special dimmer?
Yes, the 62-1802 is dimmable on a 120V circuit. The LED driver is integrated and not replaceable, so pair it with a dimmer rated for LED loads rather than an older incandescent-only control to avoid flicker or buzz.
6) Can the LED be replaced in this disk light when it burns out?
No. The LED is integrated, with no socket or lamp base, so there is no bulb to change. Rated life is 50,000 hours, and at end of life the fixture is swapped as a unit. For an MRO spares program that means stocking fixtures, not lamps.
7) Is the color rendering good enough for retail, healthcare, or hospitality spaces?
CRI is 93, which is high for a disk light and well above the 80 CRI typical of economy LED fixtures. That level of color accuracy suits retail displays, exam and treatment rooms, and guest rooms where skin tones and merchandise color matter.
8) What size and finish options are there for this NUVO CCT selectable disk light family, and can I buy a case?
The CCT selectable disk lights come in 7 inch and 10 inch sizes and are sold individually or in 6-pack contractor packs. The 62-1802 specifically is the 7 inch unit in Brushed Nickel; if you want the larger aperture, go to the 10 inch version of the same family.
9) Is the NUVO 62-1802 housing metal or plastic?
The body is steel with an acrylic lens, and the finish is Brushed Nickel. The whole fixture weighs 0.58 lbs, light enough to hang from the junction box strap without extra support.
10) Does this disk light have any protection against voltage spikes?
It includes built-in 2.5KV surge protection, which matters on circuits in older buildings or facilities that see line transients from motors and rooftop equipment. The fixture is also RoHS compliant.
11) Is there a Prop 65 disclosure on the NUVO 62-1802?
Yes, lead is listed as a California Prop 65 chemical for this fixture. Buyers shipping into California should carry that disclosure through to their documentation.
